Click for larger pic

Mr Nice Guy (一個好人) is a 1997 Hong Kong martial arts action crime comedy film directed by Sammo Hung and starring Jackie Chan. It also stars Richard Norton as the villain, with whom Chan had worked in 1993 film City Hunter and Chan and Hung had worked in Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Stars. Hung makes a cameo as an unfortunate cyclist.

Enjoy!

Television journalist Diana (Gabrielle Fitzpatrick) manages to record footage of a cocaine deal gone wrong, between the Italian mob and a street gang known as the Demons. The footage shows mob boss Giancarlo (Richard Norton) killing the Demon's leader. Diana's partner is captured and she bumps into TV chef Jackie (Jackie Chan), who helps her escape from the gangsters. Diana later accidentally switches the videotape of the drug trade with one of Jackie's cooking videos from a box of tapes. The mob, knowing that the tape is still out there, tracks Diana down to her home to force her to give them the tape.

Jackie Chan's Snake in the Eagle's Shadow (蛇形刁手) (1978) (Full movie)

Yesterday was Jackie Chan's 60th Birthday. Am posting his first big hit. This movie put him in the history books of action cinema.

Enjoy!

Snake in the Eagle's Shadow
(1978)
(Cantonese:  蛇形刁手 - "Se ying diu sau")

Chien Fu (Jackie Chan), an orphan adopted by a kung fu school, is overworked as their janitor and abused by the kung fu teachers as a walking punching-bag. Chien befriends an old beggar (Simon Yuen Siu Tien) by offering him a meal and a place to stay. Unknown to Chien, the old beggar is actually one of the last surviving masters of the Snake-style of kung fu. The old man is on the run from the Eagle Claw clan, which is viciously killing off all of the rival Snake-style Clan.

In Cantonese with English subtitles

Trivia:

  • Jackie Chan got his front tooth knocked out by the powerful kick of Jang Lee Hwang. In the finale, the gap where Chan's tooth was is clearly seen.
  • While filming a sword fight, Chan's arm was accidentally slashed by a sword. He went on fighting, and the footage appears in the film.
  • Although nowadays, Yuen Woo-ping is known for his choreography in movies such as:  The Grandmaster, Charlie's Angels and of course The Matrix series, this was his directorial  debut.
  • Simon Yuen Siu Tien is the real-life director of director Yuen Woo-ping.
